After recently making the move from Nashville to Washington D.C, The Dune Flowers released their first single of the new year, “Tired of Being Nothing.” Here is our breakdown and review of the new single out everywhere January 28th, 2022.
Opening with a very distorted and unique sound, “Tired of Being Nothing” expresses feelings of fear and anxiety that comes with growing up and change.
Tyler Drager of The Dune Flowers explained his thought process for creating the single stating that “Life seemed frustrating and I wanted to change but I didn’t know how to do it. ‘Tired of Being Nothing’ is me grasping out of the nothingness and self-reflecting during this time.”
The repetitive lyrics throughout this song as well as the distortion and gritty sound emphasize the emotions of feeling lost and insignificant.
My favorite part of this song is the soft guitar chords transitioning to end the song. Mixed with the harmonizing and echoing sounds, it leaves the listener in a contemplative state.
